It all started at Florida State University. Home of the best football team ever (go noles!!!). But i’m biased. ;)

Elizabeth + Richard have been together since college, and Michael + I connected with this incredibly sweet couple through Elizabeth’s wonderful mother, Karen, who is like our number 1 fan and cheerleader. :)

What can we say about this wedding? So full of love of each other, family and friends; and genuine joyfulness. We love you guys.

Get ready people. Go get’cha a big drink and some cookies (mmm… cookies sounds good right now. I digress. :) )cause this is going to be a long one. There were seriously so many images from this wedding that we loved, we couldn’t narrow it down to less than 50.

Location, location, location!

Elizabeth’s sister in law, Kristen, did her makeup and seriously, she did such a great job. I told Kristen she should be a makeup artist! :D Hey Kristen! Want me to refer you to some brides who want some seriously awesome makeup done? :D
elizabethrichardblog0026

Elizabeth said “I can still do the splits!” so of course, most of my brides know i’m all “BRING IT!”
elizabethrichardblog0027

…and she did. :D
elizabethrichardblog0028

Kristen was so cute signing the frame for Elizabeth + Richard. She would think of what she wanted to say and start to write, and then back away, get a little emotional, and then try to start again.blog3

elizabethrichardblog0032

Did I mention that there were TONS of details, everywhere I looked? Elizabeth described it as “foo-foo”. So I am so lovingly calling this the Foo Foo board.

While I was drooling over details…

Michael was hanging out with the guys.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth was writing a love note to Richard. It was very sweet and so touching.

These ties are kind of tight… or is it nerves? :)

Isn’t Elizabeth gorgeous?

So here’s another example of why I love shooting with Michael. We sync up our cameras so we can see who was taking what shot and when. So while Michael was hanging out with the guys, the girls were doing a toast before heading down to the ceremony. Guess what? The guys were too. At the exact same time. 1 room away. :)
Cheers!

Here comes the bride! Love this moment when Elizabeth’s mom gets choked up as Elizabeth’s brother Andrew walks her down the aisle.

elizabethrichardblog0054

Yay! We’re married! :D
elizabethrichardblog0058

Afterwards, we got ice cream for the whole bridal party, which was awesome because it was like, 100 degrees in the shade?
elizabethrichardblog0060

Best. bridal. party. EVER.
elizabethrichardblog0061

elizabethrichardblog0062

Then it was off for some lovey-dovey time!
elizabethrichardblog0063

Love these next few. Usually, we only get a few minutes to hang out with the bride and groom and we try to get some fun and romantic shots during that time. I think we did it!

Lately, with the dwindling economy, I have been thinking a lot about those brides that want a big, beautiful wedding, but just don’t have a lot of money to spend.

Let me tell you from experience, you don’t have to have a huge expensive wedding for it to be absolutely GORGEOUS. For example, when Michael and I got married, since we were both photographers, of course we wanted things that were going to photograph well. Plus, I LOVE details (all my previous brides- give me a shout out here!) so we did a LOT of DIY projects ourselves.

I borrowed this information from my good friend Meg Perotti. She is wonderful, thanks Meg! :)

I recently came across this post by the ever lovely Rachel Earl and I thought she really hit the nail on the head! I always joke with my clients that I am totally biased in thinking that your photographer is the most important thing but I will tell you this: I have been to a lot of weddings, this we know. From all my experience I will say that location and photography are the two most important things. Get a venue that is beautiful all on it’s own so you don’t end up spending countless dollars dressing up a banquet hall and get a photographer that you LOVE who will document everything about your day that you can cherish for years after the last dance. You could get married in an open field, with 50 people, with fresh fruit, bbq food, and a wild flower bouquet and your photographer will SWOON at the beautiful things they will be able to capture!

Rachael’s advice: (if anything- this post is important to read for that Louboutins link!! HOLY COW!)

1. Okay, so it’s important to first PRIORITIZE. I am sure every photographer that ever meets with a bride asks them what is most important to them on their wedding day. Yes, I do believe photography is one of the most important elements of your day because it is what you will have on your walls or in your album forever. Photos help us remember key moments, emotions, and details. No, I’m not telling you to forgo a cake for your photography, but I can say that a $300-500 dress can photograph well and look just as lovely as a $3000-5000 dress, and yes Christian Louboutins are to die for, but sometimes you can find them more reasonably priced if you look hard enough. (Alas, they apparently do not make size 5, which makes me so sad…)

Yes, photography sometimes can take up a large portion of your budget, as the photographer spends the most time with you during the day (6-10 hours), spends a considerable number of hours perfecting and editing through each image, designing albums and products, before finally delivering a very valuable product. Photographers only have one shot at getting it right. It is the most important day of your life. If they screw it up, you can’t redo your day, the emotions, the moments. I have actually been called on to photograph people after the fact that “didn’t get any good photos”, and also one bride who didn’t get any photos of just her in her wedding dress, which is extra money they didn’t intend on spending…

2. Ask about making payments. If you’re wedding isn’t until September 2010, but you know who you want as your photographer, ask if you can make monthly payments. Most will be more than willing to accommodate you.

3. If a photographer’s pricing just isn’t within your grasp, ask if they would book a bridal session (with or without the groom, before the wedding day), an engagement session, or a post wedding/trash the dress session with you. Often, these 1-2 hour sessions are cheaper, and will still yield amazing art that you can put on your walls, or in a small album or guestbook. Photographers will usually schedule these sessions during the week, and they can be set up during prime outdoor lighting time at a really cool, unique location, which is another plus! No, I am not discounting the time spent photographing your wedding ceremony, reception, bridal party, and family. These are also important elements that need to be photographed correctly, but if you are looking to still get great images without going over the established budget you have set, consider this option.

4. Wait a year on your album or your disk. Yes, I know you want your wedding photos right this second, but how cool would it be to get an album on your first anniversary to relive those special moments? You can always get some cool prints or a few canvases to hang on your wall before then, and I even offer my clients the option to download individual files straight from their online gallery. You don’t have to pay for an album upfront, and I never try to push products on my clients. Consider making your album a little smaller-maybe not in size, but in the number of pages, and include just your favorite photos of the two of you in it laid out in a modern, magazine-style layout.

5. Ask about weekdays, or other non-prime times. As with any vendor, you can sometimes get a small discount if you get married on, say, a Thursday instead of a very desirable Saturday.

Photographers spend a considerable amount of time determining their pricing based on travel costs, assistant fees, time spent at the wedding, time spent editing and producing the final product, wear and tear on our equipment, insurance and professional organization fees, cost of products included in your packages and time making those products, among other things.

I hope this helps! Photographers, for the most part are really cool, normal people, and I for one know that if I meet with a couple who loves my work and clicks with me on the personality level, but doesn’t have the budget for a full day of wedding photography, I always want to explore other options for them to create truly memorable, yet affordable memories of the best day of their lives!

Thanks Rachel Earl for posting this, and also to Meg for re-posting it! :D

You know what I love? What my absolute, most favorite, best part of every wedding is?
The kiss.
It gets me every time. The first kiss always speaks volumes. It shows so much hope for the future, love for each other, excitement, and anticipation for the joy to come. That one moment- it says it all.
Here is one of my favorite kisses EVER, from Meredith+Andrews gorgeous Seaside wedding. I just thought i’d share it with you all.

WOW. What else can I say about this wedding and Deanna + Sheri?
Deanna + Sheri are two of the most loving, genuine people that Michael + I have ever had the privilege of working with. Their love for each other just radiates out of every pore of their being.
I can’t even tell you how much Michael and I enjoyed being able to become part of their lives. You both are very special to us and we are so blessed to have crossed paths with you.
I have to quit talking and let these images speak to you in the same way they have spoken to us.

Lizzie and Jesse were married on February 28 and let me say that this is probably one of the coolest weddings I have ever shot! Lizzie has been planning this gorgeous vintage wedding for months, and the whole day went off seamlessly. Originally the couple had planned to get married in front of a gigantic oak tree near the lodge, but in the end, with threatening rain, the whole ceremony had to be moved inside. But Lizzie, being the cool head she is, said “no worries!”.
The inside of the lodge had this gorgeous stone hearth, and Lizzie had family and friends run out last minute and buy pillar candles for the mantle for a candlelight ceremony. And let me tell you, it was absolutely stunning.
This is a LONG post, so sit pull up a chair and relax, because there were seriously so many things I loved about this wedding, I went a little crazy shooting.
Lizzie and Jesse, I am so proud to call you both my friends. Lizzie, i’m so proud that I have a friend that loves “antiquing” as much as I do! :)
Your wedding was gorgeous and I loved all the thought and detail you put into your day.
Love ya both!
Lauren

Lizzie MADE this! I know, she’s uber awesome. I told her she should make them and sell them!

My jaw dropped when I saw her dress. Lizzie had been describing it for months to me but nothing could prepare me for it. It looks ivory but it’s actually a rose color!

I am so excited, honored, and humbled by being nominated and I would LOVE it if all of you went and voted for me! Click the picture below, it’s the link to go vote! :D
Thanks to everyone, the competition is stiff and even if I don’t win I am still so honored to be nominated!

Apologies for the lack of blogging this week. Things have been pretty nuts around here, I am still trying to recover from Valentine’s Day and my birthday; and I have had a wedding to finish up editing; getting ready for Deanna and Sheri’s fabulous session tomorrow at beautiful Carillon beach, and then onto Lizzie and Jesse’s wedding next weekend!
So be patient with me, lots of cool new images in the next couple weeks!

Cheers and God Bless,
Lauren ♥

Happy Love Day everyone! ♥
Today is a day that we express our affection for the ones we love! AND, what better day to propose to the one you love?
Starting today, Lauren Kinsey Photography is running a promotion that if you proposed on Valentine’s Day, and you book Lauren Kinsey to shoot your wedding, you will receive a complimentary boudior or bridal glam session! Here’s a little sneak peek:

Here’s to playing Cupid!

Remember Angela + Ted? I shot their BEAUTIFUL beach wedding back in November of last year, and I am just getting ready to place a sample album order for the LKP studio! I just love this album, it is absolutely gorgeous!
This album was a little different in the design process. I wanted to try my hand at designing something unique, so I designed an 8×20 album. So it’s super skinny when it’s closed, but when you open it, the full spread opens to an awesome 16×20!
Check out the slideshow below.
Thanks Angie + Ted! You’re wedding was stunning and I hope you love the album design!

Robin and Titus and I go back many many months ago when they were in the super early stages of planning their wedding! I just knew that day when I first met them that we were going to become great friends.
We quickly started planning their engagement session and we had a great time running all over downtown Tallahassee and FSU when they were both working for FSU Athletics.
They were married this past Saturday, and I was so honored to be there to witness how much love they share for each other and their family and friends. Robin and Titus, thank you for welcoming me into your lives. I look forward to seeing your love continue to grow and flourish in the coming years.

We started out the day at Athena Salon and Spa in Tallahassee. I just love that place! They use all natural Aveda products and they smell so yummy!
